Hickory Golf is a way to go. . . . . .
After ending my playing career in the fall of 2006, I had a weekend of tradition, with the movies "The Greatest Game Ever Played" & "Bobby Jones, A Stroke Of Genius". I have to admit, I was hooked.
I ordered my first set of Hickories and a new dimension appeared.
Several clubs later, I now sell, renovate and enjoy the game in a way I haven't since I was a kid. People ask me what the deal is?
I reply: -"When I play modern clubs I remember my misses, even when I shoot sub 70's. But, when I play with my hickories, I only remember the well struck ones, no matter what my score is".
If you want to get down and dirty with tradition, Hickory Golf is definitely the way to go. Match Play is the format of choice and fast play is how the game should be played, preferably on a links course on the Isles. "Falsterborough", Viken or Visby work as well.
